Welcome to a new series of videos by Dispomed, this series will cover dental equipment.
Today, we will be covering the lubrication of your hand pieces. We will start with the hygienist package, also known as the low speed handpiece.
The handpiece is made in three parts. There is the micro motor and the contra angle which we can both disassemble and there is the prophy angle.
We start by lubricating the micro motor by injecting aerosol lubricant into the smallest of the two large holes. We inject it until it starts to pour out slightly. Next, we take the contra angle and lubricate it at both ends. Finally, we take the prophy angle and remove the cylinder from inside of it. We lubricate the inside and we put the cylinder back in. Now we’re ready to reassemble it. It’s important to dry the excess oil off of it after its finished.
To lubricate the high speed handpiece, inject lubricant into the smallest of the two large holes until it’s lightly pours out. Before reusing it, attach it to your dental unit and run it for approximately 10 seconds.
Install the handpiece on the tube and run it for approximately ten seconds
